SUMMARY
Nch’Kay is the traditional Squamish language name for Mount Garibaldi, the massive volcanic peak that towers over the mountain bike mecca of Squamish, BC. This route links up all the main Squamish riding areas in a mostly singletrack overnighter that travels from sea level to the alpine.
DIFFICULTY
On a scale of 1-10, this route ranks as a 7. There is a lot of climbing on the first day and some technical, fast single track that can be challenging on a loaded bike.

a. Highlights:
Squamish Singletrack: Squamish is one of Canada’s premier mountain biking destinations and this route links up some of the best moderate single track trails in the area.
Elfin Lakes: Riding through beautiful alpine meadows with sweeping views of the Coast Range.
Light & Fast: While camping at Elfin Lakes is possible and beautiful, you can also go even lighter by booking beds in the Elfin Lakes Shelter.
b. Must Know
When to go: While this route is rideable July through September. It may be rideable earlier or late depending on snow levels.
Logistics: Parking is available on most residential streets in Squamish.
Dangers and Annoyances:
Mosquitos can be bad in the summer
The route travels through bear country
It’s possible for serious weather swings in the alpine
Travel basics: The Squamish Connector will get you and your bike from Vancouver to Squamish. Reservations are required for camping or the Elfin Lakes Shelter.
Bike Recommendations: This route is rideable on a hardtail, but will be the most fun on a full suspension bike.
c. Camping & Lodging
Camping is within Garibaldi Provincial Park and must be reserved.
The Elfin Lakes Shelter sleeps 30 people and beds can be booked through BC Parks.
